Focus groups on the Shore expressed that they were most concerned about these areas, so we narrowed our research to provide information about what’s behind these issues and what the future trends look like so you can plan what to do.
Salty Soil
If the salt gets into wells with fresh drinking water, it can cause health problems if people drink it.
Septic Issues
For septic systems to drain correctly, groundwater level must stay a safe distance below the drain points.
Drought
Drought keeps food from growing and the wells from refilling, but it also affects flooding and economic life.
Flooded Fields
Flooding from the ocean and Bayside increases saltiness in the water and wetness in the soil.
Flooded Roads
When roads flood, people are delayed getting to work, school, medical appointments, or evacuation points.
